This blog is meant to find humour in some of the news available in Canada’s North. Every day I come across something that makes me smile either because it is out of context or because I can’t believe that it is actually a newsworthy item and I hope will bring a smile to your face as well. This blog is not meant to make fun of or discredit the fine employees of publications in the North, but to recognize them and their ability to provide news coverage for the things up here that are a little more unique than you may know down there. I also hope this blog will, in a fun way, help to cross some of the cultural divide between North and Southern Canada. This map should help you locate where some of these news articles originate.

Yes! I’m so glad I finally stumbled onto this blog. I had the same idea for one a few months ago, but never followed through on it. I read the local paper and the News North every week like clockwork as I just eat this stuff up! I can even remember reading in the Inuvik Drum one time a story about a local girl in Tsiigehtchic who had started a part time job at the store. That’s it. That was a news story.
    I love the north!
